Dublin is world famous for its English literature and has contributed a lot to the development of the English language. If you choose to learn English in Dublin you will be coming to a city that has produced some of the English language's most important writers including Nobel Prize winners William Butler Yeats, George Bernard Shaw and Samuel Beckett. Another Nobel Prize winner, Seamus Heaney, is from County Derry in the north of Ireland but has lived close to Dublin for many years. Other Dublin major literary figures include Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, Sean O'Casey, Patrick Kavanagh, Brendan Behan and Bram Stoker, who wrote Dracula. Perhaps the most important writer to come from Dublin is James Joyce whose works include Ulysses and Dubliners.
